Children Centre project – Hands4childrenLocation: Okweta, Katine sub-county, Soroti district, Uganda Project leadtime: 12 months Requestor: James Alemu Description of the project: Their Mission is to empower vulnerable children and young people with skills, knowledge and the right attitude through training, psychosocial support and advocacy on child rights for sustainable development. Hands for children works to see children live peacefully and benefit from quality education and skills training, enjoy gender violence-free generation, economic security, avoid child marriages and teenage pregnancies and prosper with access to clean water, good health care and nutrition. The purpose is to set up a children centre with a playground, vocational skills training rooms (e.g. tailoring, carpentry, ICT, construction), a rooms for first aid and a dormitory for girls. Objectives:
Beneficiaries: The direct beneficiaries are 450 deprived children. A vulnerable group of especially orphans, street children, working children, children of families ‘at risk’ (like HIV/AIDS affected, children of single parents and girls). Budget: 17.525 € Risks:
Attached documents: Detailed budget Follow-up of the projectDate: May 20th 2019 General status: The construction of the children center was going smooth and is finalized by now. Progress since last status report: All doors, windows and floors have been completed and the roof is ready. Remains removing the litter from the site so the centre is ready for usage. Financial status: The full amount of the first funds transferred have been used. Problems/concerns: On advice of an engineer, the walls have been build thicker than foreseen and a more solid way of construction of the roof has been done. Objectives: Provide sanitary space (toilets, washing room) for the girls Beneficiaries: The direct beneficiaries are the girls who will stay in the centre. A vulnerable group of mainly orphans, street children, working children and children from families at risk.
